Dr. Alap Shah is a board-certified, fellowship-trained cardiologist specializing in cardiac electrophysiology.

Dr. Alap Shah has specialized clinical expertise and interests in electrophysiology, including complex arrhythmia management, cardiac ablations, as well as pacemaker and defibrillator implantation and management.
He has published numerous articles and abstracts in his specialty and presented to colleagues at venues including the Kansas American College of Cardiology’s annual symposium and the Kansas City Heart Rhythm Symposium.

Mary Beth Bowen is one of the few cardiac electrophysiology specific nurse practitioners in our region. She has extensive experience with patients with heart rhythm disorders in her prior experience as an EP NP at Chippenham Hospital.

She has been involved in the comprehensive care of arrhythmias, from medical management to procedural management, and counseling of risk factors.

She has a strong background in patient care with many years working with the emergency department, as a flight nurse, and within cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology.

She is extremely dedicated and detail oriented. She has had multiple honors, including being named top nurse practitioner in Richmond Magazine.

Mary Ann is a recent graduate from Shenandoah University Physician Assistant and Doctor of Medical Science programs. She has over five years of cardiology experience as a clinical exercise physiologist promoting cardiovascular health and wellness by providing lifestyle counseling and stress testing services to patients with cardiovascular diseases. She also has experience conducting and publishing clinical research centered on improving functional ability and quality of life in patients with chronic conditions.

As a PA, she utilizes personalized lifestyle counseling with comprehensive, patient-centered care for the medical and procedural management of individuals with complex arrhythmias. Additionally, she leverages her extensive background in lifestyle medicine to promote the overall health and wellness of her patients.

Laura Poole has been a nurse practitioner focused on electrophysiology care for the past six years in the Richmond community. With over a decade of experience in patient care as a nurse and nurse practitioner in cardiology, she is very knowledgeable in the comprehensive care of patients with cardiac arrhythmias.

She enjoys maintaining relationships and working alongside patients to provide education about their arrhythmia or cardiac device, offering discussion of risk factors to promote healthy lifestyle changes, and carefully choosing the best treatment plan for arrhythmia management.

Taylor Kohn, NP

Taylor Kohn has a strong background in electrophysiology care. She previously worked in the cardiac ICU and spent four years working side-by-side with our doctors in the electrophysiology lab, assisting with ablations and device implant procedures. These skills obtained while working as a registered nurse have supported her in her current role as a nurse practitioner with VAC and the management of complex arrhythmias. She is credentialed by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner.

She provides individualized care to her patients by acknowledging their unique situations, educating patients and their families, and providing unconditionally compassionate and high-quality care.
